What do ya think of my idea Oppo?
So part of me kind of wants to recreate the Corolla GT-S factory vinyl on my FR-S, but substitute “GT-S” with “FR-S.” The rest, “Twin Cam 16” is still accurate. I like the idea of the homage, and it would fit well with my new wheels (see below), but I also think it’s kinda ricey. Haha What say you Oppo?
(^my new wheels that are on the way from Japan, but they will be gunmetal)
UPDATE: Had my buddy do a bit of photoshop work. I’d be curious to see how it’d look IRL, since photoshop vinyls never look as good as they do in person. I do like the contour of the rectangle ends though.

Gotta add the little Toyota decal with it.

Do it. The world needs more cheesy 80s graphics on modern cars.

I hate “rice” and I think stuff like this is neat. It’s not rice at all, it’s a throwback to a car most people forget is even related.

I thought about that but then I’d have to rebadge the whole car, which is something I used to think was cool and now I don’t care enough. haha

I think that to do it right, you need to put a 4A into the 86 ;)

I’ve thought about how funny it’d be to swap a blacktop into one. Haha

Yeah, I’d go for it. I’m a fan of retro graphics on modern cars.

Nah, do it proper 86. No T-VIS 3-rib 16V.

I think it’s a really cool throwback idea without being too cheesy or gaudy. You could even do it without the framing. I’ve seen it like that on some AE86’s. Alternatively, this could be modernized where the ends of the rectangle contour more with the lines of the FRS, especially in the rear.
Anyone have an idea what font that is?

D’oh! Good point. I’m sure you could have one of these made up:

Nice. Do it.

Designs like these could be tweaked to where they’re just outlines like the original with text inside of it.

Boy that looks great.

I think to top it off you’d have to paint the wheels white. If the decal is white anyway,

+1000000000 for the fender mirrors

I think they can be had in white, but I prefer the gunmetal. Going for Intial D look.

I kinda wish I’d gotten white so I could have reproduced the old school TRD livery.

I want them to make a production set. I would 100% get them.

I’ve got a buddy who cuts vinyl and could make the whole thing.

This is a good idea.

I wonder how that top one would look if you reversed the white and red.

Vinyl comes off, so do it. If you change your mind, then return it to stock.

Having one buddy create a mock-up so I can get an idea of a modified version that will contour to the lines of the FR-S better. If I really like it, I will have another friend cut the vinyl.

I like the photochop, having that small ‘SCION’ logo in place of the ‘TOYOTA’ logo would be a nice touch.
That said, I like your concept. It’s almost TOO fitting!

Any updates on the vinyl project?

None yet. If it happens it won’t be until after winter. My car looks too shitty with all this snow and salt. Haha

Ah, the enemy of all of us car fanatics - SALT! My condolences to you, I dealt with the stuff for 8 years before I was finally able to get away from the stuff for a little while. The only thing that ever seemed to help was bundling up, going to the car wash, and spraying the vehicle down, but that’s cold, wet, and sometimes the doors end up getting stuck shut.

Yeah, I've got access to a few drive-thru touchless washes with underbody wash that I will visit every week or so.

Nice! That certainly helps keep from getting cold and soggy.
